| Bio | I grew up in a small town in northwest Pennsylvania. I knew from a very young age that art was where it was at for me. I remember cutting, pasting and coloring for hours on end at the enormous desk that my parents bought for me at an auction. I moved to Ohio in 1988 and earned a B.F.A. in Visual Communication Design with a concentration in illustration and a minor in marketing at the University of Dayton. For several years after graduating from college, I worked as a graphic designer at a forms company and then at a publishing company—jobs that taught me business sense and design basics. Eight years ago, I went solo as a freelancer designing everything from logos to magazines. “Designer” is just one of the many hats I wear these days. I’m inspired by classic children’s stories, nursery rhymes, fictional characters, travel, yard sales, shopping and even baking. I have an innate desire to make things. It’s a thrill for me to figure out how to reuse and reinvent to create a piece that’s amusing and clever.
I've been featured on the HGTV show "That's Clever". I've also had original sculptures selected for Red Bull's national art competition, Art of Can, in both Chicago and Houston.
I have three fantastic, interesting and funny kids and one supportive, incredible husband. I expect the future to bring a variety of projects as I look to branch out in different directions creating interesting paths along the way. |
